I was reading about some crime statistics and as usual my mind wandered to the domaining/website opportunities. What about geo-localized crime domain names?
For instance NYCTheft.com. It has potential as a personal safety website with products or for marketing insurance. My quick look at these types of domain names showed that it is a virtually untapped area. I don’t know what the type-in rate would be but it should be good for resale to the right business or for website development.
Of course what is always better is to have a domain name that offers a remedy or answer to the query the person came to the computer with. From that point of view, NYCPersonalSafety.com might be better. However it is long and probably unlikely to get type-ins. It could work as a website for personal safety products though. These domain names were not taken as of when i was writing this.
Here are a couple of other examples that are available: NYCPersonalProtection.com and NYCKidSafety.com. NYCSelfDefense.com is already resigistered
For domain parking revenue, you need terms that the person searching for a particular product, service or solution is likely to use. Get inside their head and if using geo-localized domain names, use areas with large populations. Here I have used NYC as an example. Alternatively pick an area that has a high population of interest. For instance if your likely clients are software experts, then you might think about silicon valley.
Tip: Many industries tend to congregate together e.g. auto manufacturing, computers etc. Many of these people have disposable income and spend time each day using their work computers to browse or search the web. If you understand what they may be looking for and can find a domain name that caters to them, then it will likely work parked or developed.
I didn’t purchase any of the names above but I did buy NYCPersonalInsurance.com which turned up in researching these names. I have good experiences with geo-localized insurance domain names so I thought this might be worth trying.
As always buyer beware.

Hi,
NYCSelfDefence.com is the British spelling.
The American version NYCSelfDefense.com was registered February 2007.

Patrick,
You caught me. I am Irish born and bred but living in the U.S. so I still fall back to non-U.S. spelling at times. Thanks for catching that.
Thanks for your great tips on predictive domain names, I fully believe that NYCpersonalinsurance.com and NYpersonalinsurance.com are great domain insvestment as insurance market is one of highest payout fof adsense keyword, companies are battleling to get insurance enrollments.
Thats been my experience too. For NYC beside http://www.NYCpersonalinsurance.com, I also have http://www.NYCcarinsurance.com which works well. Other locations can work too but to varying degrees.
