Manly domaining

by Barry on December 28, 2008

Bro-mance – 1 definition – the inseparable relationship between two or more heterosexual, often action-sports-participating, males. Bromance is also going to be a new series on MTV so I was interested to read a book review in the NY Times that commented on all this manliness. Lots of manly terms were defined and perhaps there is domaining potential hidden among them.

Bro Books

Two books ‘‘Brocabulary: The New Man-i-festo of Dude Talk’’ and ‘Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men’’ are reviewed in this NY Times commentary and it got me thinking of those coined terms that can become popular.

This article drops many of these with some definitions which as well as being amusing, urge you to come up with some manly terms of your own.

Bro Terms

Manecdotes:  “an anecdote that shows what a man you are.’’

‘‘Cupgrade — to upgrade to a girl with a bigger bra size.’’

‘‘Hornery — ornery and horny at the same time.’’

‘‘Trojan whores — hot chicks that you hide amidst in order to get into a club”

‘‘strongcharm — to strongarm a woman with your charm’’

‘‘malienate — to alienate a woman with male behavior’’

‘‘manticipation — financial planning for your future children’s college tuition’’

‘‘manogamy — sexual fidelity because, after 10 years of marriage, she’s still the hottest woman you know’’

‘‘hog tie — to tie up a fatty in conversation so that your bro can hit on her hot friend’’

I am not sure of the bronunciation of all these words but I understand the whole brode (bro code). I just never knew the names for them. So if by now you haven’t got a beer in one hand and the remote control in the other and are very offended, then you must not be part of the bromanculture.

So are any of these terms destined to last? Pop culture terms can be valuable if you find high quality terms. It is very risky however because they can fall out of favor just as quickly. Mostly I was just entertained by the terms.

Below are the two books which link to Amazon if you want to look further.
